The story and craft

A piece of English history, cut for a commanding profile.

The Cedar is a masterclass in historical preservation, tailored as a robust, mid-sized crossbody bag for a taller gentleman. Meticulously handcrafted from a repurposed vintage Antill “The Landau” English horse saddle, the jet-black bag shown carries decades of Walsall equestrian character into a handsome new silhouette. Its proportions and strap drop are designed with a taller frame in mind.

The process required patience. The original saddle was carefully dismantled by hand. Its salvaged panels were cleaned with saddle soap, re-dyed and conditioned to bring out the leather’s rich, supple texture.

Assembled by hand using traditional saddle stitching, this bag was made with care at every stage. Its creation was paused for months to source a vintage brass buckle that would complement the contour of the original shield frame around the Antill “A” stamp. The original stirrup alignment numbers remain visible on the central strap.

Dimensions and details of the bag shown

One-of-a-kind details, repeatable design

The jet-black bag shown is one of a kind because of its original Antill “A” shield emblem and stirrup numbers. Its 10 × 8 × 3-inch shape can be made again, including in brown, using another vintage saddle or new leather if you prefer. A made-to-order bag will not have the exact markings or character of the original; leather and details can vary.
