The Mabel – Old Heritage reimagines equestrian craftsmanship for the modern wardrobe. It shares the timeless, structured silhouette of the popular Oak & Ivy Medium, but replaces the traditional front buckle with a minimalist Sam Browne stud closure for a clean, contemporary look.

The story and craft

Each bag begins with an authentic vintage saddle, carefully dismantled by hand in our workshop. The aged leather is cleaned with traditional saddle soap, dyed and then conditioned with Old Saddlers Blend 1988 Leather Conditioner, made in Wales by traditional saddler Austin Back.

The expandable gussets are lined with hard-wearing pigskin. Apart from this protective interior lining, the leather used to make the bag is sustainably repurposed, giving historic material a second life.

• Closure: Solid brass Sam Browne stud.
• Materials: Repurposed vintage saddle leather exterior and durable pigskin gusset lining.
• Finish: Hand-washed, dyed and treated with a custom saddlers’ wax blend.

Each Mabel is handcrafted from unique, limited-run vintage hides and made to order. Please allow two weeks from order placement to dispatch.
